Dr. Marguerite Hinrichs, The PR Lady, is a native of San Francisco and graduate of the University of the Pacific, with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication. She earned a Master of Science in Recreation and Tourism and a Doctorate of Education with an emphasis on Social Justice Leadership, both from California State University, East Bay (CSUEB). Her dissertation study titled, "Exploring the Impact of Ethnic Studies Pedagogy on African American Identity and Empowerment in Oakland," illuminates the value of Ethnic Studies teaching and learning, through the voices and experiences of African American students.
Currently serving as the Executive Director and Curator at the Coleman Center for the Arts, a nonprofit civic arts organization in York, Alabama, her previous leadership experience includes serving for 20 years as the Director of Student Life and Leadership Programs at CSUEB, were she was responsible for the successful coordination of new student and family orientation programs, student clubs and organizations, Greek life, leadership development programs, co-curricular programs, and campus life events. She is also a former faculty member in the CSUEB Hospitality, Recreation & Tourism Department and former Program Coordinator and faculty in the CSUEB Social Media Marketing Certificate Program. Dr. Hinrichs is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Prior experiences include serving as the Associate Director of the Upward Bound Program at the National Hispanic University, Director of the Upward Bound Program at Cal State Fullerton, and Crime Prevention/Special Events Coordinator at Cal State Los Angeles. The PR Lady served as the Special Events/Marketing Coordinator for the City of Oakland's Office of Parks and Recreation from 2006 - 2008, where she coordinated special events and programs for the City's 100+ parks, playgrounds, swimming pools, golf courses and enterprise facilities, including citywide concerts, play days, cultural celebrations, community events, park clean-ups and much more. In December of 2024, Dr. Hinrichs was name to ReCast City's National SPARK 10 for her leadership and vision, sparking economic development through arts in the rural South.
